The Xaverian Bros. High School Hawks from Westwood, MA made the long bus ride to face the 2-0 Stepinac Crusaders on Saturday afternoon hoping to do what other teams from the Bay State have tried to accomplish in years’ past but fell woefully short losing, 41-20.

Michael Nicosia completed 10 of 12 passes for 242 yards and four TDs before being removed in the third quarter with a comfortable 41-18 lead. Sophomore Joey Carino faired equally as well completing 4 of 4 passes for 60 yards for a combined game-total of 302 passing yards.

Senior Alexander Thomas and Junior Shawn Harris scored two touchdowns while Sergio Pinto and Trill Williams each added end zone visits.

Stepinac running back, Jamal Dallas, danced through the Hawks defense for 105 yards on 12 carries.

Jalen Barger made a 37-yard reception in the second quarter making it to the 3-yard line before being dragged down short of the end zone. The Crusaders would eventually score to lead 28-12 at halftime.

“They were a good team, we played well,” head coach Mike O”Donnell said after the game.

The Xaverian Bros. team took buses back to Massachusetts after the game with the same feeling other teams have had realizing they just played one of the best teams and programs they’ll ever face.

The 3-0 Crusaders will face Chaminade next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
